About Matt
I aim to make yoga and meditation accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
I went to my first yoga class in 2009, at the suggestion of a friend and after years of reluctance. I watched as yoga improved my concentration, physical and mental strength and my flexibility. I also noticed a reduction in stress, or at least an improvement on how I dealt with it.
I've come to realize that Everyone's Yoga is Unique, and the experiences of others have influenced me, but it's what I've done with the collection of experiences that has shaped who I am and how I lead. Some of my favorite styles to lead on the mat include gentle and vigorous flows, restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, and unique meditation approaches. My favorite part of yoga happens off the mat- I believe that where we show up in the world matters, and our yoga practice both on and off the mat shape this deeply. To to learn more about that, I suggest taking a class or workshop with me.
I'm a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher (RYT200) and I'm pursuing a 500-hour certification at Kripalu Center. I am also studying traditional yoga philosophy and am enrolled in an advanced meditation teacher training. I have to give immense thanks to my teachers at Kripalu, and Sunrise Yoga Center in Ithaca, NY, for my growth and my personal style that has come from it.
